Saint-Jouin-Bruneval is a village on the Alabaster Coast, north of Le Havre, where high chalk cliffs meet a pebble and sand beach, the Plage de Bruneval. History is close by: a memorial on the clifftop recalls Operation Biting, the British parachute raid of 1942 on a German radar station. This live stream comes from the Webcams des Côtes Seinomarines channel, and it looks along the beach towards the cliffs, with a street lamp and the sea wall in the foreground. It gives a useful idea of the waves and the state of the tide on a stretch of Channel coast that faces west. A scene of the 1959 film Le Fauve est lâché, starring Lino Ventura, was shot close to this beach. Visitors should keep well back from the base of the cliffs, because chalk falls are a real risk along this coast. The tide range is big, so read the times alongside our wind and water figures.
