This policy explains what ShoreForecast collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. The site is run by , who is responsible for your data. Contact: see the contact page.
If you just visit
- Hosting. The site runs on Cloudflare, which handles every request, including your IP address, to deliver the page and protect it from attacks. We do not store your IP address.
- Searches. When you use the search box we keep the search words, the number of results, the spot you opened, the site language and your country (from Cloudflare). This is not linked to you or your account. We use it to find missing spots and delete it after 90 days.
- Your settings. Favourites, units, theme and your cookie choice are saved in your own browser. They are never sent to us.
- Analytics, only if you accept. If you click Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics sets cookies and records the pages you view, your device type and approximate location, so we can see which pages are used. If you decline, it does not load. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. Google may process this data in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- Webcams. A webcam player loads from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) or Windy. Those services receive your request and apply their own privacy policies.
If you create an account
- We keep the sign-in method (Google, Apple, X or email), the id it gives us, your email address (X does not share one), your name and profile picture address, when you joined, and when your Pro pass ends.
- A cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of its value.
- Email sign-in links are sent by Brevo and expire after 15 minutes.
- Pro is paid through Stripe. We pass Stripe your email address; your card details go to Stripe only. We keep the date your pass ends.
Why we may use it
Account and Pro data: to provide the service you signed up for. Hosting, security and search statistics: our legitimate interest in running and improving the site. Analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
How long we keep it
Account data: until you ask us to delete the account. Sign-in sessions: 30 days. Searches: 90 days. Payment records: as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how it is used. Write to us through the contact page; we answer within one month. You can also complain to your data-protection authority.
We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
