Prà de la Fam is a small point and harbour on the western shore of Lake Garda, below the village of Tignale on the Brescia side of the lake, where the Gardesana road runs along the foot of the cliffs. It is a windsurfing spot with a surf centre, a grassy rigging area and a short shore, looking east across the lake to the long ridge of Monte Baldo. The northern half of Garda is one of the most reliable wind lakes in Europe because of its thermal winds: the Pelèr (or Sover) blows from the north from the early hours until late morning, and the Ora blows from the south from around midday into the evening, both strongest on clear summer days. Prà de la Fam sits in the channel where both winds run along the shore, so it suits riders who can handle a cross-shore breeze and some gusts off the cliffs; wingfoilers use it too. Kitesurfing on Garda is only allowed under specific local rules, so check before rigging a kite. The lake's surface water is about 8 °C in late winter and 23 to 24 °C in August.
