Pompano Beach is the Broward County city between Fort Lauderdale and Deerfield Beach, and its beachfront has been rebuilt around the Pompano Beach Fishing Pier, a concrete pier reopened in 2020 with restaurants at its foot and a long promenade along the sand. A few miles north, the Hillsboro Inlet lighthouse marks the city's edge, and the reefs off this coast are a well-known diving area, helped by artificial reefs such as the Lady Luck, a tanker scuttled offshore in 2016. The beach itself is a broad strip of golden sand with lifeguard towers, and on most days the sea is calm enough for swimming and paddleboarding; winter cold fronts and autumn swells bring choppy water and the occasional surfable peak along the pier. The live cam on this page is published by the Florida Live channel, a third-party stream that names Pompano Beach in its title; at night it shows the beach, a lifeguard tower and the lights of the condominiums. Rip currents form between the sandbars after rough weather, so follow the flags. Water temperature is around 23 °C in February and close to 30 °C in August.
