Sunny Isles Beach is the city at the northern end of Miami-Dade County's barrier island, between Haulover Park and Golden Beach, and it is known above all for its skyline: a row of glass condominium towers, among them the Porsche Design Tower with its car lifts, standing directly behind the sand. In front of them lies a wide, groomed beach with lifeguard towers, renourished regularly, and in the middle of town the Newport Fishing Pier reaches out into the Atlantic. The sea faces east but sits in the shelter of the Bahamas, so it is usually calm, warm and clear, ideal for swimming, paddleboarding and long walks; strong east winds, winter cold fronts and the passage of tropical storms bring rough water and rip currents. Summer can bring sargassum seaweed. The live beach cam shown here is a third-party stream from the Earth Watch Live channel that names Sunny Isles Beach in its title; at night it shows the shoreline with the lit-up towers on the right. Haulover Inlet, a few kilometres south, has strong currents and a clothing-optional beach. Water is about 24 °C in winter and 30 °C in August.
