Cavi is the easternmost part of Lavagna, on the Riviera di Levante east of Genoa, where the long beach of the Gulf of Tigullio runs up to the foot of the Sestri Levante promontory. The shore here is a broad strip of sand and dark gravel facing south-west, with a mix of bathing establishments and free public beaches along the Via Aurelia and the railway that runs behind it. From the water you look along the coast towards Chiavari and Portofino in one direction and to the headland of Sestri Levante in the other. Lavagna itself is known for the Basilica of Santo Stefano and for the Torta dei Fieschi festival every August, which recalls a medieval wedding. The beach is exposed to the libeccio, the south-westerly that blows straight in from the open sea, so autumn and winter storms can bring heavy shore break, while summer days are usually calm and good for swimming and paddleboarding. Sea temperature goes from about 13 °C at the end of winter to around 25 °C in August. The webcam is a Windy timelapse looking over the beach and its free section at Cavi.
