Lido di Camaiore is the seaside part of Camaiore in Versilia, the long sandy coast of northern Tuscany between Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi, with the marble peaks of the Apuan Alps rising behind it. The beach is wide, fine and gently shelving, lined almost end to end with bathing establishments and their rows of umbrellas, and a pier runs out to sea from the middle of the promenade. Versilia faces west and south-west onto the open Tyrrhenian, and when the libeccio blows or a south-westerly swell arrives, mostly between autumn and spring, it becomes one of the more consistent surf areas in Italy; the banks around the pier and the groynes give the waves some shape, and offshore winds here come from the north-east and east. Summer is usually flat or small and the sea is then good for swimming and paddleboarding. On bigger days the shore break and currents along the pier need respect. Sea temperature is roughly 13 °C in February and around 25 °C in August. The webcam is a Windy timelapse over the beach and the pier, which shows quickly whether any swell is running.
