Playa Condesa is one of the central beaches of Acapulco Bay, lying along the Costera Miguel Alemán between Playa Icacos to the east and the older beaches towards the Zócalo. It is the liveliest part of the bay front, lined with hotels, restaurants and bars, with parasailing and jet skis working off the sand and a rocky islet a short way offshore. The bay opens to the south, so swell from the Pacific reaches it, and Condesa often has a steep shorebreak that knocks people over and pulls back hard; children should stay where they can stand and away from the surge. The water is warm through the year, about 27 °C in late winter and 30 °C in summer, and most rain falls between June and October. Acapulco was hit by Hurricane Otis in October 2023, one of the strongest storms ever to reach the Mexican Pacific coast, and the city's hotels and beach front have been rebuilding since.
