Town Beach is the central beach of Port Macquarie, on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, just south of the breakwall at the mouth of the Hastings River and a few minutes' walk from the town centre. The live cam on this page looks out over the beach and the breakwall from the headland. Town Beach faces north-east and is partly sheltered by the headland to the south, so it is usually gentler than the more exposed beaches further south such as Flynns Beach, Shelly Beach and Lighthouse Beach. On an east or north-east swell it offers small sand-bottom waves suited to learners and longboarders, while a southerly swell often barely reaches it. The breakwall, painted with community artwork known as the Painted Rocks, creates a calm area near the river mouth, but the river entrance itself has strong tidal currents and boat traffic.
