The bay beside the main town of Boa Vista, sheltered from the ocean swell by a small island. The north-east trade wind blows side-shore across mostly flat to choppy water, and it's strongest from December to May. Sandy beaches and a gentle drop-off make it a popular place to learn. Downwinders along the island's long white beaches are the other draw.
