The long sandy beach of Ouistreham, beside the mouth of the Orne on the Bay of the Seine. Kitesurfers and windsurfers use it in westerly and north-easterly winds, which run along the shore; northerlies are onshore and choppy. The tides are big and the sand runs a long way out at low water, so mid to high tide is best. The windy season is autumn to spring.
