Bansin is the westernmost of Usedom's three Imperial Spas, the Kaiserbäder, with Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck following to the east, and a seaside promenade runs through all three towns and on across the border into Świnoujście in Poland. Bansin's beach is a wide strip of fine sand below a wooded slope, with white resort villas along the promenade and a pier reaching out into the Baltic. The live webcam looks from the shore over the beach and along the coast to the pier. The beach faces north-east, so the prevailing westerly and south-westerly winds blow offshore and keep the water calm and clear near the beach on most summer days, while north-easterly winds blow onshore and bring waves and, after storms, seaweed on the sand. That makes Bansin a quiet swimming beach first, with lifeguards in the season, and on calm mornings stand-up paddlers head out along the pier. Behind the town lie forests and small lakes of the Usedom hinterland, and the beach is linked to the other Kaiserbäder by the promenade and the island railway. Usedom gets more sunshine than most of Germany, and the water is warmest in August. The Bansin beach webcam and the forecast below show today's wind and sea temperature.
