Batsi is one of the largest towns on Andros, the northernmost island of the Cyclades, and the main resort on its west coast, a short drive south of the ferry port of Gavrio. The houses climb the hillside around a curved bay, with a small fishing and yacht harbour at one end and the town's sandy beach in front of the waterfront tavernas. The webcam is run by Batsi.gr; its on-screen caption names the view "Batsi Beach, Andros", and a second camera from the same operator watches the port. Andros has a coastline of 176 km and dozens of beaches, but Batsi is where most visitors stay, because shops, restaurants and the beach are all within walking distance. The bay opens to the west and south-west, which gives some protection from the strong northerly summer wind of the Aegean, although gusts still come down the slopes.
