Dunedin's city surf beach, facing the Southern Ocean at the foot of the hills. It catches south and south-east swells with great consistency, and the best banks usually sit near the seawall and the heated saltwater pool at the western end. Northerly winds blow offshore. The water is cold year-round, so a thick wetsuit is essential, and the line-up is mostly locals and students.
