Claromecó is a small seaside village in the partido of Tres Arroyos, in the south of Buenos Aires province, Argentina, popular with families who want a quieter alternative to the big resorts further north. Its beach is wide, flat and very long, with low dunes and planted woods behind the houses, and the Arroyo Claromecó, crossed by a pedestrian suspension bridge, reaches the sea at the western end. East of the village stands the Faro Claromecó, a tall lighthouse that can be climbed for views over the coast. The open South Atlantic brings steady waves and frequent wind, so the beach is used by surfers and by windsurfers and kitesurfers on breezy days, while swimmers should stay in the lifeguarded areas in summer, when rip currents can form between the sandbars. The water is cold for most of the year, roughly 10 °C in winter and up to around 19 °C in January and February, the peak season. The live cam is operated by the local radio station La 100 Claromecó from its spot on the beach and looks along the sand and the surf, handy for checking the wind and the waves before heading down.
