The tramontane funnels down the Aude valley and hits this beach hard and often — over a hundred windy days a year, and it is cross-offshore, so the water stays flat inshore and gets choppy further out. One of the longest-established windsurf and kite beaches in France, with the stilt chalets behind the sand. Strongest in spring and autumn; the wind can arrive at 30 knots within an hour.
