Kapsali is the harbour village of Chora, the capital of Kythera, the island that lies between the southern tip of the Peloponnese and Crete. It is one of only five coastal villages on Kythera, and it sits on twin bays below the hill-top castle of Chora, with a lighthouse on a boulder at the point and the small islet of Chytra, "the pressure cooker", offshore. The live stream comes from Visit Kythera, which calls Kapsali the island's first harbour and one of its most beautiful beaches. Along the long promenade there are cafés, bars, tavernas and shops, and in summer the village is the island's main place to go out at night. The two bays face south, towards the open sea and Crete, so the castle hill shelters them from the north wind, while a southerly sends waves straight in.
