Sagg Main Beach is the ocean beach of Sagaponack, at the south end of Sagg Main Street, between Bridgehampton and Wainscott on the South Fork of Long Island. Sagaponack is one of the most expensive zip codes in the country, but the land behind the dunes is still partly open farmland, and the road to the beach runs past potato and vegetable fields. The beach is run by the Town of Southampton, with a pavilion, restrooms, showers and lifeguards in season, and Sagg Pond lies just to the west behind the dunes. This live beach cam from Hamptons.com shows the beach and the break. The coast faces south-southeast into open Atlantic, so the surf comes from tropical swells in late summer and fall, nor'easters, and summer wind swell; the beachbreak here works on a range of tides, and north winds are offshore. It can close out when the swell is big. Rip currents are the main hazard, and the bottom shifts after storms. Parking needs a Southampton permit or a day pass in the summer. The water reaches about 21 to 24 °C in August and is cold from December to May.
