Knokke is the most north-easterly resort on the Belgian coast, a town known for its beaches, its villas and the sea dike it grew up behind. This beach webcam belongs to Surfers Paradise, a watersports centre on the sand towards Het Zoute, at the eastern end of town towards the Zwin nature reserve and the Dutch border. A red windsock stands right in front of the lens, which makes this a useful cam for wind sports: you can read its angle and the state of the breakers before leaving home. The shore looks north-west onto the North Sea, so winds from that quarter blow onshore and build a short, choppy sea, while a south-easterly blows off the land and flattens it. Tides move the waterline a long way here, so check high and low water as well as the wind. The Belgian Coast Tram ends in Knokke, and the casino stands on the promenade at Albertstrand.
