Part of De Haan, Wenduine is a small resort of about 4,000 people, known as the "Princess of the Seaside Resorts". Fishing shaped it first: there was a port here by 1335, and the harpooned porpoise on its coat of arms recalls the catch of those days. The Coastal Tram later turned the village into a holiday place. This beach webcam looks out from the front of Hotel Les Mouettes, a family-run house on the seafront since 1946, and shows the upper beach with its sand fences and, beyond them, the North Sea breaking on the shore. The framing shifts between the sand and the waves during the day. Because the shore faces north-west, a wind from that direction pushes surf up the beach. Blankenberge lies a short ride east, De Haan to the west. The hotel calls this one of the last quiet spots on the Belgian coast. Check the sea temperature and forecast underneath before setting off.
