Trestraou is the main beach of Perros-Guirec, on the Pink Granite Coast of northern Brittany. It is a wide curve of golden sand between granite headlands, facing north towards the open Channel, with a seafront road, a sailing centre and a casino behind it. The famous Sentier des Douaniers, the old customs officers' path, starts nearby and follows the shore past the pink rocks of Ploumanac'h, and boat trips leave from the beach in season for the Sept-Îles, the bird reserve offshore known for its gannet colony. Because the bay is partly closed by headlands and islands, the waves are usually small and the beach is popular with families, swimmers and dinghy sailors; north-westerly winds bring chop straight onto the sand. The tide range is large, so the beach is much narrower at high water. Sea temperature is about 10 °C in late winter and close to 18 °C in August. The webcam is a Windy timelapse above the beach, which shows the tide and the weather over the bay through the day.
