Cruz Bay is the main town of St. John in the US Virgin Islands and the island's front door: car barges and ferries run across Pillsbury Sound from St. Thomas, and boats leave for Tortola, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke across the border in the BVI. The town beach sits right beside the ferry dock, with soft white sand, a roped-off swimming area, room for day boaters to anchor and a row of beach bars and shops behind it. This Cruz Bay beach cam is a 180-degree panoramic camera on the outside wall of The Beach Bar; it shows the bar's picnic tables and palms and the whole beach from the dive shop to the ferry dock, so you can see how busy the water is before you walk down. The Virgin Islands National Park visitor centre and the park headquarters are a few steps away, and the one-mile Lind Point Trail starts behind the visitor centre and climbs over the point to Honeymoon Beach. St. John is warm year-round; Cruz Bay holds the territory's heat record of 37.2 °C, set in July 1988. Check the wind, sea temperature and tide here and use the live panorama to judge the bay.
