Sapphire Beach is on the East End of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, one of the Atlantic-side beaches of Smith Bay together with Sugar Bay and Lindquist Beach, and with Lindquist it is the best known beach of the subdistrict. The East End is quieter and less built up than Charlotte Amalie, about 12 km to the west, but holds many of the island's resort-style hotels, so beachfront rooms here are dearer than elsewhere on St. Thomas. This Sapphire Beach live cam shows the sand, sea-grape trees and palms and the calm water of the bay, with the marina buildings at the left of the frame. Coral World Marine Park at Coki Point, the most visited sight on St. Thomas, with an underwater observatory five metres down and a sea turtle pool, is a few minutes north, and Red Hook to the south has the American Yacht Harbor and the ferries: twenty minutes to Cruz Bay on St. John, and boats to Tortola, Virgin Gorda and St. Croix. A taxi to the capital costs around twenty dollars and takes half an hour on narrow roads. Below the picture you will find the wind and wave outlook and today's sea temperature.
