A four-kilometre stretch of open sand on Tosa Bay at Kuroshio, in the south-west of Kochi Prefecture, backed by pine forest and facing south to the Pacific. It picks up typhoon swell in late summer and autumn and southerly swell through the rest of the year, and a northerly wind is offshore. Beach-break peaks spread along the shore, so the crowd thins out.
