Kizakihama is the best-known surf beach of Miyazaki, the prefectural capital on the east coast of Kyushu, and it lies right beside Miyazaki Airport, about 3 km south-south-east of the city. A sports centre on the beach, the Solaseed Air Surfing Center Kizakihama, is named after the regional airline that has its head office at the airport, and OpenStreetMap marks the surf point in front of it. The shore is a long, straight sand beach facing the Hyuga-nada sea to the east, open to typhoon swell from July to October and, in the other months, to swell from depressions crossing south of Japan. Miyazaki has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cool winters, and the city is particularly exposed to typhoons, which can drop extreme rain in a single day. This live cam is part of ii-nami.com, a network of wave-information cameras on the Miyazaki coast, and shows the beach and the line-up from the shore; the stream title carries the date and the label Kizakihama Live Camera.
