Rogers Beach is the main ocean beach of the Village of Westhampton Beach, on Dune Road at the end of Jessup Lane, on the barrier island across Moriches Bay and Quantuck Bay from the village on the south shore of Long Island. The village runs it as a full-service beach in summer, with a pavilion, showers, a snack bar and lifeguards, and parking there is by village permit or a daily fee. This live beach cam from Hamptons.com looks out over the sand and the Atlantic. The beach faces south, and like the rest of the Hamptons it gets its best surf from hurricanes and tropical storms tracking north offshore in late summer and fall, plus nor'easters and the occasional southerly ground swell; north winds are offshore and mornings are usually cleaner before the sea breeze turns onshore. Sandbars move with every storm, so the waves change from season to season, and rip currents are common when the surf is up. Swim in front of the lifeguards. The water warms to about 21 to 24 °C in August and drops to around 5 °C in late winter, so surfers wear thick wetsuits from November to May.
