Twelve kilometres of beach and sandbanks on the Eiderstedt peninsula, and Germany's best-known kite spot, host of Kitesurf World Cup events. The beach is so wide that you park on the sand and still walk a long way to the water, and at low tide the flats run dry. Westerlies blow side-onshore, and the pools left by the falling tide give beginners flat water.
