Playa de Levante is the eastern of Benidorm's two main beaches, about two kilometres of golden sand on the Costa Blanca in Alicante province, backed by the skyscrapers that make the town's skyline one of the most recognisable in Europe. It runs from the rocky headland of the old town, topped by the Balcón del Mediterráneo viewpoint, north-east towards the Rincón de Loix, while Poniente beach curves away on the other side of the headland. Out in the bay sits the Isla de Benidorm, a small wedge-shaped island reached by tourist boats from the harbour. The beach faces south and is well sheltered by the Sierra Helada to the east, so the water is usually calm and clear, and the climate is mild enough for people to swim from spring into late autumn. A broad promenade, lifeguards and beach services make it one of the easiest beaches for families and older visitors, and it gets very crowded in July and August. Easterly winds in the cooler months are what bring waves into the bay. Sea temperature is around 14 °C in February and 26 °C in August. The Benidorm beach webcam looks along Levante from the hotel front; the sea temperature and forecast are below.
