Sri Lanka's best-known wave, a long right-hand point break at the southern end of a sandy bay on the east coast. From about May to October the south-west monsoon blows offshore here while south swells wrap into the point. The Main Point suits experienced surfers, and gentler breaks such as Whiskey Point and Peanut Farm lie along the coast. The village fills up in peak season.
