The most famous wave in surfing, breaking a short swim off Ehukai Beach on the North Shore of Oahu. Winter north-west swells stand up on a shallow lava reef and throw thick, hollow left-hand barrels, with Backdoor running right off the same peak. It is dangerous and heavily localised, for experts only. On smaller days it is still a spectacle from the sand.
