A bay in the far north-west of Costa Rica, close to the Nicaraguan border, and the country's main kite spot. From November to April the Papagayo wind blows strong from the north-east across the bay, often above 20 knots. The water is flat to choppy near the beaches of Copal and Papaturro. A few kite schools and lodges operate here.
