Eight kilometres of flat, wide Vendée sand backed by pine forest, shallow enough that the tide moves the waterline a long way. Small, forgiving surf most of the year — it needs a decent westerly swell to get past waist high — and a popular kite beach when the wind is up and the tide is in. Summer is extremely busy; spring and autumn are empty and often windier.
