The surf town of the Opal Coast, between Boulogne and Cap Gris-Nez. The waves come from the Channel and the North Sea on west to north-west swell, usually short-period wind swell, and clean up in an easterly. The beach in front of the sea wall and the rocks either side of the river mouth suit different tides. Kitesurfers ride it in south-westerlies. Cold water; best from autumn to spring.
