Crete's best-known windsurf beach, a sheltered bay near Palaikastro on the island's eastern tip. In summer the meltemi drops over the hills from the north-west and accelerates across the bay, often past 25 knots in the afternoon. It blows gusty and side-offshore, so the water stays fairly flat, but you need to be comfortable working back upwind. Rental centres are right on the beach.
