The long beach of Agios Ioannis, just west of Lefkada town in the Ionian, running out towards the lagoon, the Gyra spit and the Agia Mavra fortress. In summer a thermal north-westerly fills in most afternoons, cross-onshore along the beach, and it is the island's main kite beach, with kite centres on the sand. Mornings are often calm; flat to choppy water close in.
