A wide, sheltered bay on the desert coast south of Lima, next to the Paracas National Reserve. Most afternoons the southerly wind, locally called the paraca, blows strongly over flat, shallow water, which makes it the main kite spot in Peru. The best wind runs from August to March. The water is cool, and the desert scenery is striking.
