A big-wave right point breaking over boulders below a cliff village on Madeira's south-west coast, once famous as the island's best wave. It needs a large winter NW swell to wrap in, with the NE trades blowing offshore. A seafront wall built in the 2000s changed the wave, but on its day it is still long and powerful. Experts only: the entry and exit over rocks are the hardest part.
