A wide, shallow lagoon behind a sandy peninsula on Sri Lanka's north-west coast, and the country's main kite spot. The south-west monsoon blows strongly from about May to September, and a second, lighter season comes with the north-east monsoon from December to March. The water inside is flat and mostly standing depth, while the ocean side and nearby islands offer waves and downwinders.
