Hollywood Beach, between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, is built around the Broadwalk, a brick promenade of about two and a half miles that runs right along the sand and is reserved for walkers, cyclists and skaters. Along it sit small hotels, cafés and the Hollywood Beach Theatre, an open-air bandshell where free concerts are held through the year, and towards the north end the Margaritaville resort. The live beach cam on this page is streamed by the City of Hollywood itself, which also runs the beach and its lifeguard towers. The sea here faces east into the Atlantic but is sheltered by the Bahamas, so on most days it is calm and turquoise, good for swimming and paddleboarding, with the odd choppy day when winter cold fronts pass or the east wind blows hard. Summer east winds sometimes bring sargassum seaweed to the shoreline, and jellyfish appear now and then; the purple flag warns of marine life. The beach is wide and easy to reach, with metered parking and garages behind the Broadwalk. Water temperature ranges from about 23 °C in February to 30 °C in August.
