A sandy village at the mouth of the Preguiças River, on the edge of the Lençóis Maranhenses dunes. From July to December the trade wind blows strong and steady from the east, and kiters ride flat water in the river mouth and lagoons or small waves on the open beach. There are no paved roads, so it stays quiet. Downwinders along the coast are popular.
