Spot info

  • Town: Fécamp
  • Water: Sea
  • Sports: SUP

Fécamp lies in the Valmont valley on the Alabaster Coast, between Le Havre and Dieppe, and was once a great cod-fishing port; a small fleet still works the local waters. Its beach is the classic Norman kind, a sweep of pebbles under high chalk cliffs, with a promenade running along the back and the chapel of Notre-Dame-du-Salut watching from the clifftop. This webcam comes from the Vision-Environnement network, and it looks along the promenade and across the beach to the English Channel, showing the sea state and how much of the shingle has been covered. Those pebbles matter: sandals help. The town faces north-west, so winds from that side are likely to bring the biggest sea, and an easterly should leave the bay calmer. Tides here are large, with a big difference between high and low water, so check the times. The abbey and the fishing history make Fécamp worth a visit in any weather. The forecast and sea temperature are just below.
