Spot info

  • Town: Zingst, Fischland-Darß-Zingst
  • Water: Sea
  • Sports: SUP

Zingst is the largest resort on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, surrounded by the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park. Its beach is part of an almost unbroken strip of fine sand that runs for kilometres along the north side of the peninsula, protected by a grassy dyke, and the town's pier reaches out into the Baltic from the middle of the promenade. The live webcam looks from the dyke over the beach and along the pier. The coast faces north, so northerly winds blow onshore and build the waves, while southerly winds come off the land and the lagoon behind it and leave the sea calm. In autumn, tens of thousands of cranes rest on the shallow Bodden waters and fields around Zingst on their migration, one of the great wildlife spectacles in Germany, and the town also hosts a large nature photography festival. The beach shelves gently, is guarded at the main sections in summer and has areas for dogs and naturists. The shallow Bodden side of the peninsula is used for kitesurfing and sailing. The Baltic here is warmest in August. Check the Zingst beach webcam and the wind forecast below before you go.
