The long sandy beach of Artemida, still called Loutsa, on the east coast of Attica about 25 km from Athens, and the capital's main kite spot. The meltemi blows from the north and north-east in summer, cross-shore and often strong, over choppy water. Shallow sand near the shore, several schools, and a busy beach on windy weekends. The season runs from May to September.
