The T-shaped headland groyne at Chigasaki, on Sagami Bay south-west of Tokyo, and one of the busiest surf spots in Japan. The structure shapes sandbar peaks on both sides. It works on south swell, from typhoons in late summer and autumn and from passing lows in winter, and a northerly wind is offshore. Expect a crowd at weekends, when surfers come down from Tokyo.
