A quiet barrier island at the south end of the Grand Strand, where sandbars beside the fishing pier hold most of its waves. It needs an east to south-east swell, mostly from autumn hurricanes or winter nor'easters, and is cleanest in north-westerly to westerly winds. The waves are usually small and gentle and the line-up is uncrowded; summer can stay flat for weeks.
