Rendezvous Bay is a quiet bay on the south side of St. John, facing the open Caribbean Sea rather than the Atlantic, a short drive from Cruz Bay. Its neighbour is Hart Bay, and a second villa webcam on the same ridge watches the two bays together. This Rendezvous Bay webcam streams from Mare Blu Villa on the slope above the bay and looks south over the villa's garden to the water, so it is a good way to read the sea state on the south coast: how much swell is wrapping in, how the light is, whether boats are anchored. St. John itself is mostly protected land; the Virgin Islands National Park covers about three-fifths of the island since Laurance Rockefeller's Jackson Hole Preserve gave its holdings to the Park Service in 1956, and the waters and reefs around it were added to a coral reef national monument in 2001. Christopher Columbus sailed past the island in 1493 on his second voyage without landing.
