Harwich Port is a village on the south side of Cape Cod, in the town of Harwich, on the shore of Nantucket Sound between Dennis Port and Chatham. Its beaches, such as Bank Street Beach, are short stretches of sand between stone jetties, with shallow, sheltered water that is noticeably warmer than the ocean side of the Cape: the Sound often reaches 22 to 24 °C in August. This live beach cam belongs to the Winstead Inn and Beach Resort and looks from the inn's beachfront out over the Sound. With Nantucket and Monomoy screening the open Atlantic to the south and east, there is no real surf here, and on calm summer mornings the water is glassy, good for swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking. The afternoon southwest sea breeze blows along the shore and can make it choppy, and sailors from the village's harbor and Wychmere Harbor, a small round harbor just west, use it. The tide range is modest, and the beaches slope gently. In winter the Sound cools to around 3 °C. Harwich town beaches require a resident or visitor parking sticker in summer, and some have lifeguards.
