A long, flat beach in Bideford Bay, backed by a pebble ridge, open to the Atlantic swell at the mouth of the Bristol Channel. The gentle beach break suits learners and longboarders on most west to north-west swells, and is offshore in a south-easterly. Kitesurfers use the wide sand at mid tide in south-westerly and northerly winds. Large tides; quieter than Croyde and Saunton across the bay.
